How do you find other players?

Mega Crit's FAQ says there is no matchmaking system: the current co-op flow is for Steam friends. The April roadmap Q&A described matchmaking as something the team might evaluate, not a promised feature.

If you are buying mainly for multiplayer, make sure the people you plan to play with also own the Steam version. A public queue, in-game voice chat, and future console crossplay should not be assumed.

What changes in co-op?

Mega Crit describes co-op as a shared climb with multiplayer-specific cards and team synergies. Patch notes continue to adjust cards that target another player and fix state-divergence or connection problems, so multiplayer behavior can change between the main and beta branches.

When reporting a co-op bug or comparing a card effect, include the branch, version, player count, and whether mods are enabled. That context often explains why two players see different behavior.

What to agree on before a run

• Use the same main or beta branch so card text and fixes match for everyone.
• Decide whether mods are allowed; a mismatched mod setup can make troubleshooting harder.
• Set expectations around route choices and shared team effects, because multiplayer-specific cards can benefit another player.
• For a reproducible bug report, record the version, party size, character lineup, enabled mods, and the turn where the state diverged.

Is there local co-op?

The Steam store currently lists Online Co-op, not Shared/Split Screen Co-op or Remote Play Together. Treat couch co-op as unsupported unless Mega Crit or the store listing adds it later.

Is there crossplay?

There are not yet separate official console or mobile releases to connect with the Steam version. Mega Crit's roadmap mentions ports farther in the future but does not announce their multiplayer features, account system, save transfer, or crossplay policy.
