Price & Is It Worth It?

The Slay the Spire 2 Early Access price and a practical way to decide whether to buy now or wait for version 1.0.

Quick answer

The US Steam list price is $24.99 as of August 11, 2026, before regional pricing or temporary discounts. It is worth buying now if you want the current five-character game, solo or four-player online co-op, and are comfortable with frequent balance changes. Wait if you want a fixed meta, the true ending, more modes, console/mobile ports, or a finished version.

Reasons to buy now

  • You want to play the current solo game or online co-op with up to four players.
  • You enjoy learning a deckbuilder while its cards, relics, enemies, and balance are still evolving.
  • You are comfortable encountering unfinished art, bugs, compatibility issues, and occasional strategy resets after patches.
  • You prefer the current Early Access price; Mega Crit says the price will increase after Early Access.

Reasons to wait

  • You want a true ending and the fuller set of modes and content planned for version 1.0.
  • You dislike builds changing when the beta is merged into the main branch.
  • You need a console or mobile version, whose platforms and release dates have not been announced.
  • You want to evaluate the finished hardware compatibility, language support, and overall balance.

What you get today

The Early Access build includes five playable characters, solo runs, online co-op for up to four Steam friends, alternate paths through the Spire, the Bestiary, and Steam Workshop support. Mega Crit says the current build already contains more content than the first game's launch-era version, but it is still actively changing.

The purchase does not currently include a finished true ending, every planned alternate act, every future character, or announced console and mobile copies. Buy for the build that exists now rather than for an assumed final feature list.

A practical value test

  • Buy now if you would be satisfied playing the five current characters even if no specific future feature arrived on your preferred schedule.
  • Wait if one missing feature—such as a true ending, public matchmaking, local co-op, or a console port—is essential to you.
  • Choose the main branch for a more stable experience; use the optional beta only if you accept experimental balance and bugs.
  • Re-check the live regional price and recent patch notes on the day you buy, because both the build and discounts can change.

Price caveats

Steam uses regional pricing and can run temporary promotions, so $24.99 is not a universal checkout price. Open the store in your own region for the live amount, taxes, supported language, and refund terms.

The developers say the price will rise after Early Access, but they have not published the final price. That is a reason to compare the game in its current state, not a reason to treat an unknown future price as guaranteed savings.
