FAQ · Optional public betaSlay the Spire 2 Beta Branch
How to switch Slay the Spire 2 to Steam's public-beta branch, return to Main, and avoid mixing beta-only card and control changes with the default game.
Quick answer
To access the Slay the Spire 2 public beta, open Steam, right-click Slay the Spire 2 in your Library, choose Properties, open Game Versions & Betas, and select public-beta. Steam will download the beta branch. To return to the default game, use the same menu and select None. Beta values and features can differ from Main, so always check the branch before following a guide.
| Steam path | Library → Slay the Spire 2 → Properties → Game Versions & Betas |
|---|---|
| Branch to select | public-beta |
| Current beta tracked here | v0.111.0 |
| Default Main branch | v0.107.1 |
| Beta status | Optional; experimental changes |
How to join the public beta
- Open Steam and go to your Library.
- Right-click Slay the Spire 2 and choose Properties.
- Open Game Versions & Betas.
- Select public-beta from the branch selector and close the window.
- Let Steam download the branch before launching the game.
How to return to Main
Open the same Properties → Game Versions & Betas menu and select None. Steam will switch the installation back to the default Main branch after the required update finishes.
Do not compare a beta screenshot with a Main-branch card, relic, or mechanic without checking the version first. Early Access changes can move between branches at different times.
What the current beta adds
The current beta tracked by STS2DB is v0.111.0. It keeps the keyboard-only control mode introduced in v0.110.0 and includes additional balance, card, relic, interface, localization, multiplayer, performance, and bug-fix changes.
The public beta is not a permanent replacement for Main. It is the optional branch for trying changes before they are considered ready for the default build, so later beta patches can revise or revert a change.
Why your game may disagree with a guide
- Check whether Steam is using Main or public-beta.
- Check the patch number shown by the guide and its last verified date.
- Use the Main or Beta column in the STS2DB patch notes before applying card, relic, or mechanic advice.
- If you are playing with friends, use the same branch so the rules and content match for everyone.
