Regent Guide

Bank Stars, build one payoff and stop taking every card that says Forge.

Regent wins by saving a second resource and spending it on a small number of high-density turns. In Act 1, prioritize cards that do two jobs. Commit to Stars, Sovereign Blade or creation only after the payoff and the support that pays for it are both visible.

Start with the engine

How Regent actually wins

Stars persist between turns and must be paid alongside Energy on cards that use them. That makes skipping a spend a real option. You are not wasting Stars by saving them; you are deciding which future turn deserves them.

Forge creates and grows a retained Sovereign Blade, while card creation can fuel Block, Strength and finishers. Regent's trap is drafting every card that shares a keyword. His strong decks choose the payoff first, then keep only the generators and retrieval tools that make it reliable.

Floor-one priorities

Act 1: draft answers, not a fantasy deck

  1. 01
Take cards that stand on their own

Do not announce a Forge deck on floor one. Start with real damage, defense and an area answer, then let later rewards reveal the engine.

  2. 02
Prefer two jobs in one slot

Gather Light defends and makes Stars, Glow cycles and makes Stars, Bulwark blocks and Forges, and Spoils of Battle Forges while drawing.

  3. 03
    Cover multi-enemy fights

Astral Pulse, Crush Under or Black Hole prevents a large retained Blade from being your only damage plan against several targets.

  4. 04
    Balance Star supply and spend

One to three producers is a sensible start. Add more only when the deck's actual Star costs outpace what Venerate and Divine Right provide.

  5. 05
    Keep the deck narrow

Skip cards that do not improve damage, defense, resource flow or draw now. Regent's many specialized payoffs can bury the useful first cycle.

Three packages to recognize

Regent builds that have a real game plan

Treat these as packages, not shopping lists. Move in when you already own the signal cards; keep taking standalone answers when the package has not shown up.

01
Commit signal · About two usable Star producers plus Black Hole, Radiate, Stardust, Comet or Child of the Stars

Stars burst

Store Stars on quiet turns, then turn the saved resource into a concentrated damage and defense sequence.

Core cards
Gather Light · Glow · Hidden Cache · Black Hole · Radiate · Stardust
Support
Child of the Stars · Cloak of Stars · Alignment · Royal Gamble · Gamma Blast
Relics
Divine Destiny · Lunar Pastry · Galactic Dust · Mini Regent

How a turn plays: Defend while producing Stars. On the burst turn, count both resources, gain Stars before Radiate, then spend them on Gamma Blast, Comet or Stardust; spending does not reduce Radiate's gain count.

What breaks it: Collecting expensive Star consumers with only Venerate to fund them. Several individually powerful cards can become an unplayable hand.

02
Commit signal · A self-sufficient Forge card followed by Summon Forth, Conqueror, Parry or Sword Sage

Sovereign Blade loop

Grow one retained attack, control when it returns, and multiply a smaller number of decisive Blade plays.

Core cards
Bulwark · Spoils of Battle · Summon Forth · Conqueror · Sovereign Blade
Support
Parry · Sword Sage · Cosmic Indifference · Foregone Conclusion · Falling Star
Relics
Fencing Manual · Razor Tooth · Intimidating Helmet · Bag of Preparation

How a turn plays: Keep the Blade retained while adding Forge and waiting for Vulnerable, Conqueror, Parry or Replay. Retrieval and draw control are usually worth more than a fourth mediocre Forge card.

What breaks it: Filling the deck with setup that neither blocks nor draws. The Blade becomes huge, but the run loses before drawing or safely paying for it.

03
Commit signal · Pillar of Creation or Regalite plus at least two dependable creators such as Crash Landing, Collision Course, Quasar or Spectrum Shift

Card-creation engine

Make cards on purpose and convert the creation count into Block, Strength and a Supermassive finish.

Core cards
Pillar of Creation · Crash Landing · Spectrum Shift · Quasar · Regalite
Support
Collision Course · Supermassive · Arsenal · Bulwark · Big Bang
Relics
Regalite · Mummified Hand · Fencing Manual · Bag of Preparation

How a turn plays: Put Pillar or Arsenal in play before creating Debris and Colorless cards. Clear hand space before Crash Landing, and create at least once each Beta turn to collect Regalite's first trigger.

What breaks it: Creating more cards than the hand can use. Debris and random Colorless options can crowd out the stable Block and damage the deck still needs.

Items worth changing your plan for

Recommended relics and why they fit

Divine Destiny

A larger opening Star bank allows Regent to play premium Star cards before spending turns on setup.

Its exact starting amount differs between Main and Beta.

Lunar Pastry

One Star at each turn end rewards a deck that can defend while saving for a burst.

Slow accumulation does not replace immediate Act 1 damage.

Fencing Manual

Opening Forge creates the Blade and gives it a useful starting number before any card is played.

The free Blade creation still needs a retrieval and payment plan.

Razor Tooth

Upgrading the Blade after it is played cuts future cost from 2 to 1 and makes repeated loops much easier.

It pays after the first expensive Blade play.

Regalite

Creation immediately becomes defense, making Debris, Colorless and first Forge actions safer.

Main triggers every creation; Beta only rewards the first creation each turn for a larger amount.

Execution wins close fights

How to pilot the deck cleanly

  • Count Energy and Stars before playing anything. Stars persist, so Falling Star does not have to be spent just because it is affordable.
  • Radiate counts Stars gained this turn. You may spend those Stars first without reducing its number of hits.
  • Royal Gamble needs 5 Stars. Spending the starting bank on Falling Star can leave an unupgraded Venerate unable to bring you back to the threshold.
  • Retain the Sovereign Blade until Vulnerable, Conqueror, Replay or a kill window makes the 2 Energy count.
  • Watch hand space: the first Forge can create a Blade before Spoils of Battle draws, and Crash Landing wants room for the Debris it creates.
  • Use creation cards after Pillar or Arsenal enters play. Creating the fuel before installing the payoff loses the reason the engine exists.

Common mistakes

  • Assuming cards with the same keyword automatically form a deck. Start with the payoff and add only the support it needs.
  • Taking every premium Star spender. If Star generation cannot pay the hand, those cards are curses at the wrong time.
  • Scaling the Blade mainly with small Strength or Vigor bonuses. Vulnerable, Conqueror and Replay multiply the large hit more effectively.
  • Adding four or five Forge cards but no draw, defense or retrieval. Bigger is not the same as available.
  • Mixing Main and Beta creation advice. Pillar and Regalite reward different creation patterns on the two branches.

Current experimental branch

What Beta v0.111.0 changes for Regent

Beta v0.111.0 keeps the card-creation split between Regalite and Pillar, but lowers Regalite's first-creation payout from 6 to 4 Block. Stars and several direct damage options receive targeted buffs.

RegaliteEvery creation grants 2 Block → 6 Block in v0.110.0 → 4 Block in v0.111.0 on the first creation each turn

One creation still turns on the relic, but the smaller latest payout makes Pillar, Arsenal or another Block source more important.

Pillar of CreationAfter an intermediate rework, restored to each created card granting 2(3) Block

Creation count matters again, but each trigger is weaker than Main's 3(4) Block.

Terraforming6(8) → 7(10) Vigor

The retained damage setup becomes a better standalone pick and a stronger bridge into attack turns.

Crush Under7(8) → 8(9) damage

The area-answer candidate is slightly less costly to take early.

Divine Destiny6 → 7 Stars at combat start

The upgraded starting bank crosses more Star-cost thresholds immediately.

AlignmentStar cost decreased from 3 to 2

The latest beta makes this Regent payoff easier to fit into a burst turn.
