Regent Stars Guide: Bank, Budget and Burst

Stars are a bank, not a turn-end score. Keep them when the current hand has no good conversion; spend them when the burst turn solves a real damage, Block, or Energy problem and the Energy-plus-Stars cost is actually payable.

The player question

When should Regent save Stars, and when should the resource be converted now?

The job

What this package is trying to solve

Store Stars on quiet turns, then turn the saved resource into a concentrated damage and defense sequence. The package is useful only when it answers the fight in front of you; it is not a shopping list that overrides the map, enemy intent, or the cards actually offered.

01

Count Energy and Stars together before playing a dual-cost card.

02

Generate Stars while defending instead of spending them to make the number smaller.

03

Reach the payoff threshold before adding more expensive consumers.

04

Use the burst to solve the current combat, then rebuild only as fast as the deck can spend.

Cards and relics to recognize

Core cards

Gather Light · Glow · Hidden Cache · Black Hole · Radiate · Stardust

These are the cards that make the package's central action possible.

Support cards

Child of the Stars · Cloak of Stars · Alignment · Royal Gamble · Gamma Blast

These help the package survive, draw, scale, or bridge into the next fight.

Relics

Divine Destiny · Lunar Pastry · Galactic Dust · Mini Regent

Relics can change the value of the package, but do not force a plan that cannot solve the next combat.
How a useful turn looks: Defend while producing Stars. On the burst turn, count both resources, gain Stars before Radiate, then spend them on Gamma Blast, Comet or Stardust; spending does not reduce Radiate's gain count.

Commit condition

When should you take more of this?

✓

About two usable Star producers are available.

✓

A payoff such as Radiate, Black Hole, Stardust, Comet, or Child of the Stars is reachable.

✓

The deck can survive the setup turn without spending all of its future resource.

Protect the run

When should you stop forcing it?

Core failure mode: Collecting expensive Star consumers with only Venerate to fund them. Several individually powerful cards can become an unplayable hand.

↗

Several Star consumers are present but only one generator can fund them.

↗

The deck is spending Stars without improving the current fight.

↗

A generalist damage or Block card is more likely to solve the next route check.
