Defect Status and Fuel Guide: Choose Your Consumer

Status becomes useful when creation has a payoff and the hand has a chosen consumer. Compact can turn Status in hand into Fuel; Flak Cannon can spend the same problem for damage. Treat them as competing decisions, not a resource you count twice.

The player question

What does Defect need before turning Status cards into Fuel is safe?

The job

What this package is trying to solve

Create Status cards on purpose, collect their trigger value, then convert the hand pollution into Fuel and another play sequence. The package is useful only when it answers the fight in front of you; it is not a shopping list that overrides the map, enemy intent, or the cards actually offered.

01

Install the creation payoff before creating a large Status batch.

02

Use Iteration or another bridge when the Status draw is going to clog the hand.

03

Choose Compact or Flak Cannon for the current batch.

04

Spend Fuel on a turn where the extra Energy changes the combat, not just because it is free.

Cards and relics to recognize

Core cards

Compact · Trash to Treasure · Boost Away · Overclock · TURBO · Fight Through

These are the cards that make the package's central action possible.

Support cards

Iteration · Smokestack · Rocket Punch · Flak Cannon · Gunk Up

These help the package survive, draw, scale, or bridge into the next fight.

Relics

Blessed Antler · Tea of Discourtesy · Letter Opener · Tuning Fork

Relics can change the value of the package, but do not force a plan that cannot solve the next combat.
How a useful turn looks: Create Status, take any creation or draw triggers, then decide whether the batch belongs to Compact or Flak Cannon. Fuel extends the turn and can trigger zero-cost Skill or Exhaust rewards.

Commit condition

When should you take more of this?

✓

A Status generator and at least one safe consumer are available.

✓

The deck has a way to draw, convert, or benefit from the created Status.

✓

The Beta branch's Fuel behavior is understood before using old Main advice.

Protect the run

When should you stop forcing it?

Core failure mode: Counting the same Status twice. If Flak Cannon consumes the batch, Compact has no Fuel; if the deck lacks Iteration in Beta, the cycle can also run out of cards.

↗

Status cards are being created without a consumer.

↗

The hand is polluted and Compact is not available.

↗

Flak Cannon already consumed the batch you expected to turn into Fuel.
