Trash Heap: Dive In or Grab Junk?

Slay the Spire 2 Trash Heap event guide: compare Dive In's random relic with Grab Random Junk's 100 Gold and random card, including the 8 HP cost.

Quick answer

Trash Heap gives you two choices: Dive In costs 8 HP for one random relic, while Grab Random Junk gives 100 Gold and one random card. The Gold line is the lower-variance default; take the relic gamble only when the HP is safe and the pool is strong.

What is the Trash Heap event?

Trash Heap is an Underdocks event with two lines: Dive In for one random relic, or Grab Random Junk for 100 Gold and one random card. The event is a risk test, not a simple reward screen—the correct choice depends on whether your current route can convert the reward before the next dangerous fight.

Dive In can produce Darkstone Periapt, Dream Catcher, Hand Drill, Maw Bank, or The Boot, with one relic selected at random. The immediate price is 8 HP, so the choice converts survivability into a permanent passive effect without letting you select the exact relic.

Grab Random Junk gives 100 Gold and one random card from Caltrops, Distraction, Outmaneuver, Clash, Dual Wield, Entrench, Hello World, Rebound, Stack, or Rip and Tear. These are returning cards from the first game, but this event and its outcomes belong to Slay the Spire 2.

Should you Dive In or Grab Random Junk?

The Gold route is the stable option: 100 Gold has predictable purchasing power, while the card can be useful or become extra deck weight. It improves when a Merchant is reachable soon, especially if the Gold completes a card removal or a known high-impact purchase.

Dive In has the higher relic-shaped upside but also the sharper failure case. Take it when 8 HP does not compromise the next elite or boss and several relics in the pool help your run. Avoid valuing the best possible relic as though it were guaranteed; each of the five outcomes must be acceptable enough to justify the HP.

Version note

Trash Heap is currently an Underdocks-only event. Major Update #2 moved prior beta changes into the main branch, and older references that place the event in Act 2 may describe an earlier build. This page uses the v0.107.1 main-branch state checked above.
