Crystal Sphere

How the Crystal Sphere event works in Slay the Spire 2, including its Gold and Debt choices, Divination grid, and hidden rewards.

Quick answer

Crystal Sphere appears in Acts 2 and 3 when every player has at least 100 Gold. Pay 51–99 Gold to Divine 3 times, or gain Debt to Divine 6 times. Each Divination can reveal one tile or a 3×3 area on an 11×11 grid; a reward is gained only after all of its tiles are uncovered.

How Divination works

After choosing a payment method, you uncover hidden shapes on an 11×11 grid. A Small Divination reveals one tile; a Big Divination reveals a 3×3 area. Both consume one use, so Big Divination is normally the efficient opener while Small Divination is useful for finishing the exposed edge of a reward.

Rewards include a relic, common and rare potions, card rewards, and Gold piles. Most occupy multiple tiles and count only when completely revealed. Doubt is the exception: uncovering that hidden Curse adds it immediately rather than waiting for the reward screen.

Pay Gold or take Debt?

Paying Gold limits you to three Divinations. Since the relic occupies a 4×4 footprint, it cannot be fully uncovered with only three perfectly placed 3×3 reveals. This route avoids adding Debt and is safer for a deck that cannot remove or neutralize another Curse.

Payment Plan doubles the searches to six and gives enough coverage to pursue larger rewards, but Debt stays in the deck until its condition is resolved. Choose it when the expected additional rewards and your Curse-management plan outweigh the future draw cost. Do not evaluate six reveals as free value.

A practical reveal strategy

  • Start with separated 3×3 reveals to expose the boundaries of multiple hidden shapes.
  • Use single-tile reveals only when one tile completes a valuable card, potion, Gold pile, or larger reward.
  • With three uses, prioritize rewards that can actually fit inside the remaining reveal area rather than chasing the relic.
  • With six uses, keep enough coverage to finish the largest shape you have partially exposed.

Current-version note

Major Update #2 fixed Crystal Sphere potion rewards that could use the wrong rarity and incorporated earlier beta event fixes into the main branch. The choice structure above is for the v0.107.1 main build, not an early launch guide.
