Backflip's current Slay the Spire 2 Block, draw, upgrade, and the deck conditions that turn this Silent common into reliable defense.
Quick answer
Backflip is a 1-cost Common Silent Skill that gains 5 Block and draws 2 cards. The upgrade raises the Block to 8. It is strongest when the deck values both effects: the Block answers the current turn while the draw finds the next defensive card, damage piece, or setup effect.

Why Block plus draw is useful
Backflip does not ask Silent to choose between cycling the deck and surviving the current attack. Five Block is modest, but drawing two cards can reveal another Block source, a Weak effect, or the damage needed to end the fight.
The card is not automatically positive in every hand. Drawing more options only helps when the deck has enough Energy or zero-cost cards to use them. If the run is losing because it cannot kill early enemies, another defensive common may delay rather than solve that problem.
When the upgrade matters
Backflip+ gains 8 Block while keeping the same draw. The three-point increase applies every time the card cycles, so it becomes more valuable in longer fights and in decks that play Backflip repeatedly.
Compare that repeatable gain with upgrades that change cost, add a key debuff, or cross an immediate damage breakpoint. Backflip is a sound upgrade target when defense is already the deck's direction, not a reason to ignore a more urgent fight.
How it fits the Silent Block package
Footwork improves the recurring Block side of Backflip, while the draw helps locate Footwork early or assemble a later Shadowmeld turn. Leg Sweep covers a different job: a larger two-Energy defensive action with Weak attached.
The package works when each card solves a distinct problem. Adding several Backflips without enough Energy or damage can create hands that see many cards but still fail to end the fight.
