Silent Sly Discard Guide: Triggers, Sequencing and Hand Control

Build the deliberate discard trigger before filling the deck with Sly payoffs. Draw first when the card order allows it, then discard a card that is safe to lose while using the free-play window to solve the current fight.

The player question

What makes a Silent Sly package reliable rather than a hand full of expensive promises?

Open the Silent overview

The job

What this package is trying to solve

Turn discard from a cost into free cards, damage, Block and Energy while cycling to the deck's real answer. The package is useful only when it answers the fight in front of you; it is not a shopping list that overrides the map, enemy intent, or the cards actually offered.

01

Find active discard before increasing Sly density.

02

Draw before choosing the discard when a new Sly card can enter the hand.

03

Separate deliberate discard from natural end-of-turn discard.

04

Keep Weak, Block, and a real damage plan while the loop is being assembled.

Build the job, not the label

Cards and relics to recognize

Core cards

Prepared · Acrobatics · Calculated Gamble · Reflex · Tactician · Tools of the Trade

These are the cards that make the package's central action possible.

Support cards

Speedster · Ricochet · Serpent Form · Escape Plan · Backflip

These help the package survive, draw, scale, or bridge into the next fight.

Relics

Tingsha · Tough Bandages · Letter Opener · Ring of the Drake

Relics can change the value of the package, but do not force a plan that cannot solve the next combat.
How a useful turn looks: Draw before choosing the discard so newly drawn Sly cards can be played for free. Expand the hand, play anything that must not be lost, then use Calculated Gamble on what remains.

Commit condition

When should you take more of this?

✓

Two dependable discard tools are available, or a repeatable source such as Tools of the Trade is active.

✓

The Sly cards in hand can be played without sacrificing the only defense answer.

✓

The deck has enough draw to see the trigger and payoff in the same combat.

Protect the run

When should you stop forcing it?

Core failure mode: Expensive Sly cards arriving before active discard. End-of-turn discard does not trigger Sly, Tingsha or Tough Bandages, so the deck needs deliberate enablers.

↗

Sly cards are arriving with their printed Energy cost and no discard target.

↗

The deck is discarding at end of turn but not creating the expected payoff.

↗

The hand is full of setup while the enemy is already asking for Block.
